PROFILE

Dr. Suresh Puthalath is an Eye Surgeon with more than 15 years of experience in the field of Ophthalmology. He is an expert in cataract surgery with phacoemulsification, glaucoma filtering surgery and medical retina treatment. He is currently Medical Director and Senior Eye Surgeon at the Puthalath Eye Hospital in Kozhikode.

Dr. Suresh Puthalath trained at Aravind Eye Hospital and obtained the title of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in Ophthalmology. He also received the title of Member of National Academy of Medical Sciences (MNAMS). He worked as a Medical Officer in the vitreo-retinal services department of Aravind Eye Hospital and later served as Medical Director and Senior Eye Surgeon at Comtrust Eye Hospital in Calicut.

Dr. Puthalath was the official Consultant Eye Surgeon for the ICC Cricket World Cup (2007) in the West Indies and 20-20 World Cup (2010). He has been associated with the Government of St. Lucia, West Indies, as Ophthalmic Surgeon, Member of the National Health Strategic Plan, Invited Member of the Medical & Dental Council, etc. 

Dr. Puthalath has contributed chapters in textbooks on ophthalmology, written over 50 articles in Malayalam newspapers and magazines, and appeared on health-related discussions on TV. He is a postgraduate teacher for the DNB, MS and DO programmes, and also trains ophthalmic assistants and nurses at Aravind Eye Care.
